I’m a lifelong woodworker with a passion that began at sixteen, when I left school and was fortunate enough to secure an apprenticeship with a local family-run joinery firm. While working in the shop, I attended college one day and two evenings a week, achieving top marks in my City & Guilds Carpentry and Joinery qualifications. That experience sparked a love of the craft that has stayed with me ever since.

Over the years, I have developed extensive skills in bespoke joinery - crafting doors, windows, staircases, cabinets, and custom pieces from softwoods, hardwoods, and man-made boards. My journey has taken me through traditional joinery shops, housing maintenance roles with local councils, and eventually into teaching.

My path into education began when I started teaching Carpentry and Joinery at City & Guilds level, which inspired me to earn a BA in Design Technology at Middlesex University. I qualified as a teacher in 2000 and went on to build a successful career in education, later earning an MA in Management in Education and serving as Deputy Headteacher at a Pupil Referral Unit. Along the way, my wife Helen and I raised three daughters and became a fostering family after relocating to Hampshire.

Throughout all these chapters - whether working on the tools, running my own business, or teaching - I’ve always been a joiner at heart.

Now retired from full-time education, I’ve returned to where it all began: working with wood. My focus is on creating bespoke joinery and sharing my passion with others.
